To benefit local people in and around the Ferndown and St Leonards area by creating a central point for the collection and distribution of medically related items.

Community Friends

 

Community Friends was formed in June 2018.

 

We are a part of The Charity Commission of England and Wales.

 

It is a voluntary support organisation for the Community and its aims are to give service and raise funds to improve facilities and equipment for the benefit of patients and people in the local community Our Constitution ensures that money received and raised is used solely to benefit the Community. The Community Friends will publish an Annual Report and Audited Accounts each year. These can be viewed on the Charity Commissioners website Community Friends are a highly respected and trusted organisation and as such have encouraged the support of many people.

 

It has a proud record of voluntary service and raising funds, as a former Hospital League of Friends, all project donations that are received are applied in full to benefit the Community and people in need.

 

The Community Friends has a Board of Trustees who manage the organisation in a responsible and professional manner. These Trustees, along with volunteers of the Friends, give time and services for the good of the cause.  Community Friends bring along a wealth of experience from their time in the League of Friends for St Leonards Hospital.   

 

The Objects of the charity are:

 

  • The Advancement of health, well being and comfort.

 

  • To support maintain the preservation of health among people residing permanently or temporarily in Ferndown and St Leonards and surrounding areas, regardless of age, health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantages.

 

  • To provide physical aids, equipment, facilities and services [not normally provided or available from the statutory authorities] ancillary to those provided by the doctors, to assist in the treatment and care of persons suffering from physical illness of any description or in need of rehabilitation resulting from illness or injury.

 

  • To interact with other groups, clubs & charities in the area working to similar aims The Charity will benefit local people in the conurbation of the Ferndown and St Leonards and the immediate surrounding area, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.

 

  • To accept surplus equipment from local services Fundraising to purchase new equipment and other related services and to invite and receive contributions from any person or persons or Organisations whatsoever by way of subscription or donations.

 

  • To foster co-operation and inter-communication between, other charitable Institutions, Local Authorities, Hospital Authorities and National Health Service Authorities supplementing the service provided by local doctors for the health, welfare and comfort of the patients therein, by the provision of facilities which may be required for the treatment of such patients. To give and exchange information and advice and to promote education in all matters relating to help in the said community

 

  • To take and accept gifts of property, whether subject to any special Trust or not, for the Object of the community

 

  • And provide assistance in the provision of these amenities.
